SnakDanish by ear

What is Snak

Snak is a listening-and-response practice app for internationals in Denmark who understand lesson Danish but lose the thread in ordinary speech.

You can follow your teacher. You can read the transcript. Then the lunch table switches to Danish and you go quiet. Snak exists for that moment: hear it by ear, know what it meant, say something back.

What it does

Today: short listening practice by ear. Hear a Danish word and pick what it meant, with no text to lean on. Reviews return on a schedule so what you heard stays heard. Echo, the small red companion, walks the map with you and never grades you.

Planned, not yet in the app: whole sentences at ordinary speed, and saying something back.

What it does not do

Where it stands

Snak is in private use by its maker on iPhone. It is not on the App Store. A small Copenhagen beta is being prepared; see the beta page.

Questions

Is Snak a Danish course?
No. Snak sits beside the course, app or tutor you already have. It practises one thing: hearing Danish, one word at a time for now, and acting on what you heard. Responding is planned, not built.
Does Snak teach pronunciation or grade my Danish?
No. Snak does not assess pronunciation and does not award a level. When it cannot tell whether you understood, it says so.
Can I use Snak today?
Not yet. Snak is in private use by its maker. A small Copenhagen beta is being prepared; the beta page explains who it is for.
Who makes Snak?
Antti Mikkonen, an independent developer in Denmark. There is no company behind it and no investor.
